Pro Balance Plus

A superior equine forage balancer helping to replenish some of the most commonly deficient minerals, vitamins & amino acids in forage. Plus added B Vitamins and G.I. support.

Progressive Earth Pro Balance Plus is a superior premixture formulated to help balance the grass, hay, or haylage in your horse’s diet. Plus added B vitamins to support the health of hooves, skin, nervous system, red blood cell production, and the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.
VistaCell is included to support healthy gut microflora and maintain correct pH balance.

Pro Balance Plus is manufactured in a UFAS (Universal Feed Assurance Scheme), BETA NOPS (Naturally Occurring Prohibited Substances), FEMAS (Feed Materials Assurance Scheme), ISO 22000 ( Food Safety Management System) certified state-of-the-art premix manufacturing facility.  Pro Balance Plus is produced using the highest quality feed assured ingredients under strictly controlled production conditions and conforms to the requirements of EU and UK legislation governing the manufacture of animal feeding stuffs.

Our high specification formulas are carefully balanced using optimum ratios defined by the National Research Council. Targeting only the deficient minerals in forage.

Pro Balance Plus does not contain any wheat feed or linseed.

We recommend the addition of micronized linseed meal throughout the winter months, or if a horse is fed predominantly hay/haylage. This is for the essential fatty acids that a horse may be short of when grass is restricted. Essential Fatty Acids cannot be manufactured within the body and must be present in the diet.

1/2 to 1 x 50ml (25g to 50g) scoop daily of Pro Balance Plus for an average 300 kg pony.

We always advise with any new feed/supplement/dietary change that it should be made gradually due to the horse’s sensitive digestive system. As advised by the national research council.

Please note our guidance on the use of Salt: We do not add salt directly to our formulations.
Chloride in salt is naturally quite abrasive. So adding salt can lead to rapid degradation of vitamins used in our mixes if exposed to light, moisture and heat etc.

The addition of salt could considerably reduce the shelf life of our products. Our products are packed and sealed in carefully controlled packing facilities at our mixing house. We cannot guarantee how products are stored once opened by our customers.
We have a fast turnover of products and all our mixes benefit from long shelf lives. Customers can feel confident that their products will remain fresh and free from degradation.
Our Balancers and Premixes are formulated with the specialist guidance of World-leading nutritionists at the Professional Mixing House Company we use.
We recommend all horses should have free access to salt. However, a salt lick alone cannot be relied upon to cover maintenance & sweat requirements. Many horses do not choose to use the lick enough.
The amount of salt needed is variable depending on how much the horse sweats.
For example, a 500 kg Horse needs 10g of sodium per day (25g of salt) for maintenance needs, this is without exercise or sweating on hot days.
1 – 2 tablespoons of salt per day, added to the horse’s feed is a reasonable amount to cover maintenance requirements.
Working horses will require additional electrolytes. Dissolving the salt in water & spraying it onto hay, can be an alternative option for picky eaters.

A premixture for horses.

Hi, your product seems of great quality for which i would give 5. The only thing is that it is not palatable to my horses and neither of them is a fussy eater – they eat anything you put in front of them and yet they are refusing to eat your product. Also, your postage has a too great charge on it. Not sure why, but to pay nearly 8 quid for postage is a bit steep for me especially after checking it is coming from mainland and from an island as I was advised some time ago. thank you for reading. Kind regards Erika

      Hello Erika
Firstly in the 5 months you have been buying this product I can find no correspondence regarding having problems getting your horses to eat it. Therefore, I cannot advise as to the suitability of the base feed you are using as a carrier.
For example, feeding a powdered supplement in a tiny handful of chop, will always result in disappointment as chop is not a suitable carrier for a powdered feed and feeding a very small handful of bland chop as a carrier will result in refusal.

We always advise a soaked base feed such as the agrobs wiesen cobs or alpengrun mash (other soaked feeds are suitable). If you would like further support, I would suggest that you email us, we would be happy to help.

With regards to the postage charge: The actual cost to ourselves from Royal mail for your 3.6kg parcel is £10.52. This does not include the cost of packaging which is an additional 50p. We charged a maximum of £7.99! We cannot do anything about postage charges. I suggest you pass your feedback regarding postage onto royal mail.

Price has gone up and I’m worried I will no longer be able to give this product to my horses

      Hello Adriane
You purchased 1 bag of Pro Balance + 3.6kg on the 9th of April 2020, then again on the 10th of July and recently 1 bag of Pro Balance + on December the 22nd. The July until December’s purchase lasted 165 days, which at the current price at the time worked out at 20p per day (25p including postage) at the higher prices this goes up to 23p per day for the product (28p including postage) so an increase of 3p per day if the next bag lasts you the same length of time.
The 3rd bag you purchased had increased in price, this was due to a large price hike in some of the raw material due to covid causing a shortage of supply of some ingredients. We have since had a further price increase due to brexit.
Sadly, we have to pass some of that increase on unfortunately, as it is not feasible to continue to manufacture the product if we do not do this.
The postage and haulage also continue to increase year on year so unfortunately, all this has to be factored in.

I’m very happy with the product that has arrived and the service received however at the moment am struggling with getting my horse to eat his feed with the supplement in. He is not a fussy eater at all however appears that the product contains an ingredient which presents an unappealing smell and taste so need to find something to feed alongside to hide it.

We always recommend introducing a new supplement very gradually over 1 – 2 weeks. It is also important to feed in a suitable ‘soaked’ base feed (not chop).

Product is great for minerals, unfortunately quite unpalatable but I gather this is a common problem

I am sorry you have had problems getting your horse to eat the Pro Balance +. This is not something that is normally an issue and most horses eat it fine. But it is important with any new feed to introduced it gradually and feed it in a suitable base feed. We always advise feeding any powdered balancer in a soaked based feed. Chop is not a suitable carrier for a powdered supplement and if problems arise it is generally because it is either introduced all at once or fed in just a small handful of chop. Powdered balancers don’t blend very well with a chop, but hay cobs, grass nuts etc or a suitable soaked mash is ideal.
Horses are very suspicious of new smells and flavours so to avoid disappointment we advise introduce gradually over a period of 1-2 weeks.
