Magnesium Oxide 90%

90% Magnesium oxide – This is a high quality budget alternative to our ultra low iron human pharmaceutical grade magnesium oxide at 99.8% purity.

  • Magnesium oxide is the primary ingredient in many of the quality equine calming products on the market.
  • Magnesium is needed for more than 325 enzymes within the horse’s body.
  • Involved in protein synthesis, so needed for general growth and repair of tissue, e.g. Hooves.
  • Required for the maintenance of normal blood circulation within the body, limbs and feet of the horse.
  • Useful when magnesium needs boosting in the diet.
  • Magnesium is critical for balanced secretion of insulin and glucose uptake.
  • It is involved in supporting correct blood sugar levels after carbohydrate intake and adequate levels can support insulin function ( including cresty neck and/or fat deposits).
  • Magnesium is essential for proper calcium absorption and is an important mineral in the bone matrix.
  • It can also assist in the absorption and metabolism of Vitamins B, C and E.
  • Magnesium can support nervousness stressed horses.
  • Periods of stress lead to an increased need for magnesium.
  • Magnesium is often lacking in equine diets due to processed, preserved, high concentrated feeds.
  • The availability of magnesium is low in fast growing, lush grass after periods of rainfall; in acid soils i.e. ‘horse sick pastures’ or artificially fertilised pastures (acid conditions destroy soil microorganisms which are used to make the minerals usable by plants).

Feeding guidelines – 3g per 100kg of bodyweight.

Pack size and availability: Progressive Earth Magnesium Oxide 90% equine feed supplement is available in resealable grip seal pouches containing either 1 Kg, 2 Kg or 4 Kg of product.

I use this for my horses and they can get fat very easily and can get a little spooky if they have nay grass. I find they are more settled when i feed magnesium.

I’ve been feeding this to my 25 year old Arab who has Cushing s & it seems to help reduce the fat pads that build up on him which is my reason for feeding it. Progressive Earth is a very efficient and easy company to deal with, would recommend!

I purchased this product as a calmer for my youngster,as he had to spend a lot of time stabled over winter due to wet weather muddy fields etc . He has remained calm and easy to handle for a young vibrant horse .
It is an excellent product , great value for money .
I also noticed that his hooves have improved,he has grown a good strong hoof with plenty of sole, and he is not footy over stony ground at all .
So I plan to use it for all my horses over spring/ summer together with all the other factors necessary for successful keeping of barefoot horses such as reduced access to spring grass , good quality minerals , low sugar feed/ hay etc

I use this on my wbxish, she’s barefoot and her hooves are fabulous and tough, she’s also a windsucker, she gets very nervous doing something for the first half dozen times, this magnesium suits her well it just takes the edge off her, she relaxes far faster and is not as nervous overall, it suits her better than the purer one with no iron, why ? I don’t know it just does, I stupidly forgot to add this when I put an order in last week, order arrived as always perfectly and safely packaged today.
Top product and works great for this little horse.

I got this for a mare who is very anxious and likely had magnesium deficiencies due to her feeding regiment. We got clear result very rapidly after giving this supplement. She quickly got more relax while being more energetic at work, she got more cuddly and affectionate and she magically grow heel on her hind feet. We are extremely pleased with this supplement, great results for a small price.
